Meet the Client

One of the fastest waste collection services in the Netherlands

This platform makes it easy for customers to book pickups in just 5 simple steps — no upfront payment, and always a sustainable solution. Fast pick-up, no heavy lifting, and zero hassle.

They handle the junk and give it a second life — all with a smooth booking flow. But as their service grew, so did the need for accurate, compliant, and scalable tracking — and that’s where we came in.

What They Needed

Revenue was overstated when multiple services were booked

Client Complaint: Revenue was overstated when multiple services were booked. The project involved a service booking website where the client required conversion tracking upon booking confirmation.

📊

Accurate tracking of booking conversions — purchases were not being recorded reliably

🍪

A proper cookie banner with consent compliance (Consent Mode v2) for Dutch/EU regulations

🎯

Vendor-specific data flowing correctly to GA4, Google Ads, and Microsoft Ads

💰

Revenue accuracy fix — GA4 was double-counting revenue for multi-service bookings

Our Solution

Clean, Compliant, Conversion-Ready

Compliance without complexity. Tracking without gaps.

01
Booking = Purchase

Mapped confirmed bookings to eCommerce purchases

Captured service type, currency, total revenue, and transaction ID for every confirmed booking. Data was sent simultaneously to GA4, Google Ads, and Microsoft Ads — ensuring complete attribution across all ad platforms.

02
Cookie Consent — Handled

Recommended Cookiebot CMP and deployed banner via GTM

Recommended Cookiebot CMP for advanced consent mode and deployed the banner via GTM. Tested across all major browsers for full GDPR compliance — ensuring tags only fire after explicit user consent.

03
Revenue Accuracy Fix

Custom JavaScript to fix the item_price × quantity double-count

Before: the item-level array had prices pre-multiplied by quantity. GA4 then multiplied item_price × quantity by default — causing revenue to be overstated for multi-service bookings.

We left the data layer untouched and injected a custom JavaScript in GTM to divide item price by quantity before sending to GA4. Result: Accurate revenue tracking, even for multi-service bookings.

What Was Broken — and How We Fixed It

Problem Our Fix Type
Booking conversions not tracked Mapped bookings as eCommerce purchase events GTM
Revenue overstated (multi-service) Custom JS in GTM to divide item_price ÷ quantity GA4
Cookie consent not compliant Cookiebot CMP + Consent Mode v2 via GTM GDPR
No vendor-specific data split Separate tags for GA4, Google Ads, Microsoft Ads Multi-vendor
